At Pleasant Valley Dentistry, it is our goal that you maintain your bite stability and chewing function throughout your lifetime. One approach to accomplishing this goal is through the use of dental implants to replace missing teeth or teeth which require removal.
Dental implants are an excellent treatment option for replacing missing teeth. They function by creating a replacement tooth “root,” which solidly integrates into your bone. After complete integration, this implant can be used for a variety of solutions, including replacement of a single tooth, as a support for a dental bridge, or to better hold a removable denture in place.
Placing one or more dental implants will require careful analysis to ensure the best possible outcome. This is why Dr. Therese and her staff at Pleasant Valley Dentistry work in close conjunction with dental specialists as well as high quality lab technicians to ensure that the procedure goes smoothly from the beginning and ends with an excellent outcome.
Implants & Esthetics
Front teeth are essential components to a confident and beautiful smile. In a situation where one or more front teeth requires replacement with a dental implant, Dr. Therese will develop a plan with you to ensure the best possible esthetic outcome. She will also have an appliance fabricated for you to wear during the initial healing period so you will never be forced to go without a front tooth.
One of Dr. Therese’s passions is recreating esthetic, natural-looking smiles. When a front tooth is replaced by a dental implant, extra steps are often necessary to ensure that your implant tooth will seamlessly resemble a natural tooth, from the shape of the gum tissue to the color and shape of the tooth itself. Dr. Therese enjoys the challenges associated with this often-overlooked procedure and strives to give you confidence in your smile after the addition of a dental implant.
What to Expect
Once you have decided that a dental implant is right for you, Dr. Therese will put you in touch with a trusted colleague who will consult with you regarding your implant treatment plan. In most cases, an implant is all that is needed to create the foundation for your tooth replacement. Occasionally, however, additional treatment such as grafting may be necessary.
After your initial consultation, you will be scheduled for your appointment for implant placement, a procedure that is comfortably completed using local anesthetic and is associated with minimal discomfort. Complete integration between the implant and your bone is required before any pressure is placed on the implant, and this typically ranges from 2 to 3 months. You will then begin the necessary appointments at Pleasant Valley Dentistry in order to restore this implant to full form and function.
