Improperly aligned and crowded teeth can be unattractive.
They can also cause difficulty maintaining proper oral health.
Misaligned teeth can be very difficult to keep clean, and in turn, can lead to inflamed, irritated gums (also known as gingivitis). They can also be the precursor to dental cavities and periodontal disease.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign is a convenient alternative to braces that straightens teeth by means of clear plastic trays. At Pleasant Valley Dentistry, Dr. Therese will keep in mind your cosmetic goals when evaluating whether Invisalign is the right option for you.
In addition, our excellent front office team will help you evaluate whether your dental insurance includes any orthodontic benefits and come up with a payment plan that meets your budget.
Treatment times may vary, but most individuals will be in active treatment within the 12 to 18 month range. Your teeth will be moved into a more ideal, visually pleasing, and easy-to-clean location by clear trays that are switched out every 2 weeks.
Most patients will also require supplementing this movement with white “buttons,” which attach to your teeth and help the trays to properly align them. Additionally, we may also need to slim down your teeth from within the flossing spaces to create more room.
After your initial appointment, our team members will check on your progress every 4 to 6 weeks in our office and provide you with your next sets of trays.
Wearing Invisalign Aligners
Our patients love the convenience of the clear Invisalign trays because they can keep their teeth clean much easier than with conventional braces with wires and brackets. Additionally, the white buttons are virtually undetectable by anyone other than you and your dental team at Pleasant Valley Dentistry, making them an excellent option for cosmetically minded patients.
Success with Invisalign requires that you are motivated and engaged in the process. For ideal results, trays must be worn no less than 22 hours per day.
To prevent gum disease and cavities from forming during treatment, your oral hygiene at home is extremely important. Our experienced staff will provide you with our recommendations to ensure that your oral health is maintained throughout treatment.
At the conclusion of your Invisalign treatment, all white buttons will be removed and Dr. Therese will provide you with complimentary take-home whitening to finalize your cosmetic makeover. She will also formulate a plan with you to help keep your newly straightened teeth in place.
